Cloud computing is here to stay and companies that have yet to adapt it can do so haphazardly but there will come a time when they may just need this service but its too late for their actual data and files. And while cloud storage and cloud computing technology has been around for a number of years in North America, other parts of Asia and most of Europe, the Philippines has really yet to fully embrace the technology.
But if you work or own a company that is keen on joining other successful businesses “in the cloud” then now would be a great time to start shopping around for the perfect cloud computing company to work with. In this article, we’d like to give you some guidelines on what to look for in a cloud computing service provider as well as give you an idea of what cloud computing is.
First stop, what is cloud computing? In a nutshell, cloud computing is the process of sending data including photos and scans of documents to a server away from your location which is the “titular” cloud in this context. Cloud Storage is part of cloud computing but there’s another service that works with the cloud. The actual cloud computing can be seen as running a program, like Adobe Photoshop, and working with it by just using the Internet connection. The actual software is installed and operating from a different hard disk in probably a different country. You save your progress on the same server and save space in your physical device.
This makes a lot of sense especially for companies who keep track of a lot of files. Imagine digitizing everything in your records room and moving them out into a cloud server. Or you’re company needs to keep records of thousands of photos and you are running out of spaces to keep those photos, that’s where you can practically use cloud computing.
So what are the qualities that you need to look for in a services of a cloud computing company in the Philippines?
- They need to keep their lines open all the time. You can never say when you will need a file from the cloud. Having a constantly open line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If the company has a track record for not being available anytime anyday then you may want to look for a different service provider.
- The company needs to give you a specific rate for services. It would even be better if they provide you with a customized price rate for the service to be provided. Do not deal with a company that will pull out prices for their services out of thin air. Those are the types of cloud companies that will bite your back in the future. Who knows, they may even keep your data away from you and hold it for ransom.
